The screen also turns low resolution with a lower aspect ratio, but goes back to normal in about 5-10 seconds, the disk also stops spinning at the same time. When trying to boot the game, we hear the disk spinning.
The error was fixed by enabling compatibility mode (Windows XP SP3), but the game still didn't boot. Then an error popped up saying the disk had to be inserted for it to be able to run, the disk was already inserted though.
The installation was successful (I think). So recently my dad found his old Diablo II installation disk and tried installing it on his laptop, which is running Windows 10.
